Students also benefit from an annual Book Arts Lecture as well as seminars from visiting artists.

    The college also promotes the artist's book through an annual Book Arts Competition, which is open to all students and staff, and which has awards and prizes given by local and national benefactors.

Previous Annual Lectures have been given by Helen Douglas of Weproductions, James Brook of Book Works in London, John Bently on his Liver and Lights Scriptorium, Danny Flynn of Middlesex University, Andrew Eason, and Annabel Other as Head Librarian of the Bristol Art Library travelling collection of artists' books.

       A programme of Book Arts seminars and workshops is also delivered to students studying First Diploma, National Diploma and Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.

This year's books have already been shown at the college's main campus before an exhibition at Hay-on-Wye Public Library during the international Hay Festival, and the Courtyard Arts Centre, Hereford during national book week, Rachel Bonness (First Diploma Art & Design Course), won the Courtyard Prize for her book Drowning in the Sea.
